of the $50 cost per county and out -of -County travel for -the <br />County Attorney and any Commissioner who wishes to attend <br />the above workshop to be held in Orlando, Wednesday, June <br />23, 1982-1 <br />SOUND SYSTEM AT COUNTY COURTHOUSE <br />Commissioner Lyons brought up the problems being <br />experienced with the sound system for the Circuit Courtrooms <br />and believed, in this age of technical expertise, there <br />should be some way to enable people in the back of the <br />courtroom to hear the proceedings. <br />Discussion followed as to the fact that the attorneys <br />address the judge and jury and not the back of the room, and <br />Commissioner Lyons inquired about the use of hand held <br />microphones. He noted that one problem is that the air <br />conditioning system roars. <br />Maintenance Supervisor Lynn Williams reported that he <br />spoke with WGYL Sound Engineer Dave Reucher in regard to <br />this sound system, who explained that it is not like the <br />system in the County Commission Chambers where the mikes cut <br />themselves in and out. He suggested disconnecting the <br />speakers closest to the Judge to cut back on feedback, and <br />estimated a costfof $800-$900 per courtroom to cure the <br />problem. In regard to quieting down the air conditioning, <br />this has not been done because it was felt Judge <br />Stikelether's area should be addressed at the same time. <br />Commissioner Wodtke suggested jacks could be installed <br />for the Press such as we have in the County Commission <br />Chambers or earphones, or possibly a speaker could be placed <br />in the back of the room. <br />Dr. Hardin believed these are all just stop gap <br />measures and that the acoustical problem will not be cured <br />until the air system can be balanced.
