prior to budget sessions, and Mr. Koolage felt there should <br />be doctors present to argue the pros and cons. <br />Vice Chairman Fletcher noted that the committee had <br />viewed a slide presentation which was very worthwhile, -and <br />he highly recommended that the Board ask the Assistant <br />Administrator to set up a workshop. <br />After further discussion, it was agreed that this is a <br />matter of major importance, and the Administrator should try <br />to set up a workshop date. <br />REPORT - TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE. <br />Public Works Director Davis reported that a study was <br />conducted on the Oslo Road and 43rd Avenue intersection, <br />which indicated that signalization of the intersection was <br />not warranted. There have been, however, three deaths there <br />in 1981, and the committee overruled the technical element <br />and recommended signalization of this intersection. <br />Mr. Davis continued that this would cost about $20,000. <br />.The flashing beacons that were there previously were <br />completely wiped out by one of the accidents, and they have <br />been reinstalled to DOT standards at a cost of about $4,000. <br />Some further research has been done into the accident <br />reports, and it was found that the accident history of the <br />intersection at 27th Avenue and Oslo, which does have a <br />traffic signal, is about the same as the 43rd Avenue and <br />Oslo intersection. <br />Discussion continued about the need for signalization <br />of Oslo and 43rd Avenue and whether there are other <br />intersections which might have greater priority. <br />Vice Chairman Fletcher stated that he was not prepared <br />` for this discussion and would like to bring it back on <br />another agenda. <br />DIRECTION TO AUDIT SELECTION COMMITTEE <br />Community Services Director Thomas reported that when <br />the first auditors were employed, it was on a three year <br />5Q_.
