J U L <br />7 198250 <br />VOK <br />F-Al"X28 <br />Hospital Board has the meeting, <br />all that will come <br />up on <br />the <br />agenda is what they want to come up. <br />Frank Zorc, Director of ACT, wished to try to impress <br />on the Commission why it is useless to go to the Hospital -- <br />Board and why the County Commission should be the ones to <br />hold the public hearing so the people can have a truly open <br />forum. He believed that the hospital staff and employees <br />provide excellent patient care and stated that this is not <br />the issue; the issue rather being poor financial <br />administration. Mr. Zorc continued that while he was not <br />convinced the hospital should be sold, he was completely <br />certain that the whole truth about selling it has not been <br />made available to the public. Mr. Zorc claimed that the <br />Hospital Board of Trustees has biased, prejudiced, <br />pre -conceived attitudes, and then described at considerable <br />length the make-up of the Advisory Committee, which was <br />appointed by the Hospital Trustees. He passed out a chart <br />detailing what he felt was the unusual composition of this <br />committee and pointed out possible conflicts of interest. <br />Mr. Zorc continued to discuss the influence on this <br />committee of biased people who own property near the <br />hospital and talked about personal relationships between the <br />Long Range Planning Committee and the Hospital Trustees. He <br />emphasized that the public, who are the true owners of the <br />hospital, must be given the option of considering selling <br />the hospital, and noted that the County Commission is the <br />only body which can place this matter on a referendum and <br />take it to the people. <br />Mr. Seramur commented that the people in the Sebastian <br />area are asking why they should pay taxes to support Indian <br />River'Hospital when they have their own facility which pays <br />taxes. <br />Commissioner Fletcher pointed out that the Hospital <br />Board decided on this issue by a 7 to 1 vote, and they <br />
