RESOLUTION 82-64 - APPROVING AGREEMENT W/DEPARTMENT OF <br />NATURAL RESOURCES RE TRACKING STATION PARK <br />Attorney Brandenburg reported that the Agreement <br />submitted by the Department of Natural Resources is their <br />standard agreement, and he would recommend approval. <br />MOTION WAS MADE BY Commissioner Bird, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Lyons, to adopt <br />Resolution No. 82-64, approving Agreement <br />with the Department of Natural Resources <br />re grant funds for the development of the <br />Tracking Station Park property. <br />Discussion on budgeting ensued, and Commissioner <br />Fletcher questioned whether County residents would want the <br />County to budget $92,500 for a recreation facility at this <br />time. <br />County Public Works Director Davis believed one of the <br />conditions of the County receiving that property from the <br />government was that it be used for recreation and improved <br />in the near future for that purpose. <br />Commissioner Bird was of the opinion that if we can <br />obtain and develop property that valuable for $92,000, no <br />one in the county would question it. <br />Commissioner Fletcher argued that the people he has <br />been talking to mainly want beach access and don't want the <br />extra frills. <br />Chairman Scurlock felt that we must have properly built <br />dune walk -overs and provisions to protect the property we <br />have. <br />Discussion followed as to the possibility of using the <br />value of the land as an in-kind match. <br />Public Works Director Davis stated that $92,000 has <br />been earmarked for improvements, and since the,land was <br />13 <br />JUL 14 1982 BOOK 50�At4�2 <br />J <br />
