which convey water to natural points of drainage. <br />Elevation - Height in feet expressed in relation to <br />mean sea level and referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical <br />Datum (NGVD). <br />Filtration or to Filter - The selective removal of <br />suspended matter from stormwater by passing the water through <br />suitable fine textured granular media such as porous soil, sand <br />and gravel or other natural or artificial aggregate, which may be <br />used in conjunction with filter fabric or underdrain pipe or <br />both. <br />Flood or Flooding - A general and temporary condition of <br />partial or complete inundation of normally dry land areas from: <br />(1) The overflow of inland or tidal waters. <br />(2) The unusual and rapid accumulation of runoff of <br />surface waters from any source. <br />Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) - An official map of a <br />community, on which the Federal Emergency Management Agency has <br />delineated both the areas of special flood hazard and the risk <br />premium zones applicable to the community. <br />Flood Insurance Study - The official report provided by <br />the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The report contains <br />flood profiles, as well as the flood boundary-floodway map and the <br />water surface elevation of the base flood. <br />Floodway - The normal channel of a watercourse and the <br />adjacent land areas that must remain unobstructed to convey the <br />regulatory flood discharge without raising flood elevations above <br />specified levels as determined in Section 7 A (20) (d). <br />Floor - Any floor (including basement) usable for living <br />purposes which include working, sleeping, eating, cooking, or <br />recreation, or a combination thereof. <br />Hydrograph - A graph of discharge, or, for the purposes <br />of this ordinance, volume of stormwater, verses time for a <br />selected outfall point. <br />Impervious Surface - A surface which is highly resistant <br />to infiltration by water. It includes surfaces such as compacted <br />sand, limerock, or clay, as well as most conventionally surfaced <br />-4- y: Vis. <br />
