low <br />a subdivision as set forth in the zoning regulation district <br />applicable to the property. <br />2) Specifications. All sidewalks shall: <br />(a) be at least four (4) feet wide <br />(b) be located outside of the roadside recovery <br />area unless protective devices are provided <br />(i.e. non -mountable curbs) <br />(c) have a curb cut and ramp for wheelchairs at all <br />intersections as specified in Indian River <br />County Standard Specifications. <br />(d) be constructed in accordance with Indian River <br />County Standard Specifications. <br />The Board may require additional right-of-way and <br />pavement at schools, shopping centers, parks and the like to be <br />provided and dedicated to the County as may be necessary to <br />promote safety, convenience and the general welfare. <br />3) Construction Prior to Final Inspection. Sidewalks <br />shall be installed prior to final inspection of the subdivision <br />improvements. The Board shall have the discretion to grant the <br />applicant a two (2) year period, after final inspection of <br />subdivision improvements, to construct sidewalks if the applicant <br />posts construction security in the amount of one hundred and <br />fifteen (115) percent of the construction costs. <br />F. Blocks <br />1) Considerations. In the determination of block size <br />and shape, consideration should be given to: <br />(a) the special needs of the use contemplated <br />(b) the Zoning and Comprehensive Plan requirements <br />(c) the need for convenient access, circulation, <br />control and safety of vehicular and pedestrian <br />traffic <br />2) Size <br />(a) Length. Not less than five hundred (500) feet <br />nor more than fifteen hundred (1500) feet <br />between adjacent right-of-ways <br />(b) Width. Sufficient to allow two (2) tiers of <br />-55- <br />
