Commissioner Fletcher discussed having a referendum; i� having a straw ballot; and procedures for removing a member of the Board. He continued that the Attorney indicated to him that the Board did not have the power or authority to create an ordinance that would allow the public to remove a Commissioner. Attorney Brandenburg affirmed his statement and added that the authority to remove a County Commissioner in non -chartered counties was vested in the Governor, with specific reasons for doing so. _ _. _Lengthy discussion ensued; it was determined that the Attorney could look into the matter and 'see what other counties have done. Chairman Scurlock felt that there were various. questions that needed to be explored. He thought a committee should be formed to analyze this problem and make recommendations. ON MOTION by Commissioner Fletcher, SECONDED by Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously authorized the Chairman to appoint a committee to review a procedure which would allow or disallow a straw ballot on a.petition basis, 0 and report back to the Board. OUT -OF -COUNTY TRAVEL ON MOTION by Commissioner Wodtke, SECONDED by Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously approved out -of -County travel to those persons interested in attending the Florida Shore & Beach Preservation Meeting from September 29 through October 1, 1982 in Captiva Island, Florida.
