Discussion followed, and it was noted that these <br />figures do not reflect the recommended return of the $24,000 <br />given to Indian River Shores towards the purchase of a <br />tanker truck. <br />Commissioner Fletcher wished to know what the millage <br />amounts to in dollars over rollback, and Mr. Nason stated <br />that it is about $17,800. Last years millage was 1.5032; <br />under rollback rate it is 1.37303; and the proposed millage <br />is 1.37424 - a difference of .00121 mills, or .088% increase <br />over rollback. Mr. Nason further explained that when the <br />agreement was entered into with Indian River Shores, they <br />were to serve to the North County line on the Beach, and <br />they did not have a tanker truck; it, therefore, was <br />contemplated that they would purchase such a truck and we <br />would reimburse them $12,000 a year. It now turns out that <br />this truck is not needed, and Mayor Nolan has indicated <br />there is -no problem in regard to them conveying the $24,000 <br />back with interest. <br />Commissioner Bird noted if that happens, we could use <br />that money as additional carry forward and go back to the <br />rollback millage. <br />Chairman Scurlock stated that the Committee feels that <br />is what they would like to do, and Mr. Nason agreed that it <br />will be advertised that way. Discussion followed about <br />adding this change to the agenda for the next meeting of the <br />South County Fire District. In further discussion it was <br />felt this could be considered now and felt that the Board is <br />meeting as the South County Fire District now. <br />Attorney Brandenburg informed the Board that when going <br />through the Budget, the Commission can consider all <br />dependent districts at the same time.
