SEP 151982 <br />1 <br />51: t 4.9N <br />center and perhaps lease the classrooms at a minimum fee to <br />other groups. The other option would be to deed the Health <br />Service the old building only or the concrete building only, <br />but they would be willing to accept the entire complex. <br />Ms. McCoy reported that their executive committee has <br />tentatively approved $40,000 for renovation of the complex <br />with the understanding that the School Board would assist <br />with replacing the windows and install single heating units <br />in each room since they felt it would be too expensive to <br />replace the heating system which was completely vandalized. <br />Ms. McCoy emphasized that even though they would lease part <br />of the facility to other agencies, it would not be a profit <br />making venture - just provide enough to defray some of the <br />bills. <br />Considerable discussion followed as to various <br />alternatives, i.e., whether the Community Health Group would <br />be willing to accept a lease for the concrete structure <br />only; whether they would assume maintenance of all <br />facilities in lieu of not having to pay rent; whether they <br />would be willing to negotiate with the citizen's group in <br />regard to use of the concrete structure if this property <br />were deeded to that group, etc. <br />Commissioner Lyons noted that if we were to accept this <br />property from the School Board right now, there is nothing <br />to prevent us a month from now telling the School Board that <br />we no longer want it. He suggested that we go ahead and <br />accept it and ask the West Wabasso Civic League to get <br />together with the medical people and come back with a <br />proposal. <br />Ms. McCoy informed the Board that they requested Mrs. <br />Ingram to meet with them two weeks ago; their main office is <br />in West Palm and they have been traveling here about twice a <br />week for the last month. Ms. McCoy emphasized that they <br />have the money, but they cannot continue to sit on it and <br />68 <br />
