Gentlemen:-
Each
entlemen:
Each year an opportunity is furnished to the judicial
circuits to request that the Supreme Court certify to the
Legislature the need for additional judges. The deadline
this year for me to make such a request is the end of
November.
There are presently two county judges in Martin o-nd
Saint Lucie Counties but only one in Indian River County.
If you believe that an additional position is warranted in
your county, please let me know and furnish me with any
information I may use to justify the request.
t
In a recent conversation with Judge Graham W.
Stikelether, he informed me that he believes the time has
come to share the growing caseload with another judge.
Experience has shown that convincing the Supreme
Court to certify our need is not as difficult as getting
the Legislature to create the position. It is for this
reason that I am seeking your views in advance as should
we obtain certification, much local help will be needed
to convince the Legislature to act on our behalf.
Sincerely,
C.
