Wakefield,County Extension Director <br />Commissioners' involvement in Overall Advisory Committee <br />_ Y <br />TO: _ <br />FROM: <br />SUBJECT: <br />In the very near future I will be organizing an Extension <br />Overall Advisory Committee. The functions of such a committee are: <br />1. Provide lay involvement in assessing the general situation <br />in the county to determine Extension Service educational <br />program needs. ' <br />2. Provide long-range program direction for the total County <br />Extension program. <br />3. Legitimize Extension program plans. <br />4. Help in public relations. <br />Our next plan of work will be for a 4 -year perioc!. For thi: <br />feason it is important that we have help in planning programs <br />relevant,to the needs of the county. <br />An Overall Advisory Committee is made up of representatives <br />from the following groups: <br />I. Local leaders with broad-based interests. <br />2. County Extension Citrus, Home Economics, and 4-H advisory <br />committees. <br />3. Groups and organizations relevant and meaningful' to the <br />overall Extension Program - agriculture organizations, <br />government bodies, etc. <br />4. Representatives of the population of the county for demo- <br />graph'c variables,such as age, sex, race, ethnic group, <br />incop,e, and geographic locations. <br />I would like for you to determine how you wish to be involved <br />in this committee. In some counties a Commissioner serves on the s <br />committee, and in some others each Commissioner assigns someone <br />from hjrs district to serve on the Advisory Committee. <br />We will appreciate your participation in the development of <br />this committee. <br />NOV 17 19182, <br />
