DEC 15 1982 60K <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Fletcher, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bird, that the <br />Board postpone this item until the January <br />meeting. <br />2 PAUE 3 I <br />The Chairman stated that, he would not vote for a <br />postponement. <br />Terry Lehman, representing the Lung Association, asked <br />the Board not to postpone this item as several people, <br />including himself, came from out of town to attend the <br />meeting today. He continued that their purpose was to <br />promote good health and he hoped this would not be postponed <br />any longer. <br />Ellis Pender, Sabal Palm Bowl, referred to the <br />proposed resolution prepared by the County Attorney, and he <br />felt that before it was adopted, the people in the business <br />community should have an opportunity to offer their input <br />for the preparation of a resolution. <br />The Chairman reminded him that he was present at the <br />meeting when this item was previously discussed, and he knew <br />it was scheduled for this meeting. <br />Mr. Pender noted that he would have to put in special <br />ventilation at his bowling alley. He could see no harm in <br />postponing the matter until later. <br />Commissioner Fletcher referred to paragraph two of the <br />proposed resolution and noted that it read "voluntary" <br />measures would be taken. He wondered if it could read <br />"mandatory." <br />The Attorney responded that you could not make <br />something "mandatory" by resolution. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. It <br />was voted on and failed with a vote of 2 to 2, <br />Commissioners Fletcher and Bird voting in favor, <br />
