Comprehensive Plan Capital Improvements Element <br />transportation expenditures have increased by 39.88%. Transportation expenses represented 14.20% <br />of all county expenses in FY 2009/10. <br />Economic Environment <br />Included in this category are the costs of providing services which develop and improve the economic <br />condition of the community and its citizens. Veteran Services, the Housing Authority, and the <br />Economic Development Division of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce undertake this <br />function. Table 6.5 shows that those agencies spent $2,520,339 on economic environment services in <br />FY 2009/10. Between fiscal years 2008/09 and 2009/10, economic environment expenditures <br />increased by 285.64%. This large increase is largely due to costs associated with rehabilitating <br />housing authority rental complexes. Since FY 2004/05, economic environment expenditures have <br />increased by 253.72%.
