ORDINANCE 2012-036 <br />five-year, twenty -four-hour (25/24) and one hundred -year, three-day storm <br />(100/72) events, or as otherwise directed by the governing water body <br />agency. <br />10. All proposed culverts or structures within all F.S. Chapter 298 Water <br />Control Districts' rights-of-way or easements shall be approved by the <br />applicable water control district or shall be designed according to the <br />water control districts' published requirements prior to issuance of a <br />stormwater management system permit. <br />11. In all subdivisions not having a centralized stormwater management <br />system, all side lot and rear lot drainage swal_es shall be a minimum total <br />of twenty (20) feet wide, ten (10) feet on each side of side lot lines. The <br />approval of this type of system is at the discretion of the county public <br />works director and shall erAy be considered only along the crest of the <br />one -mile Atlantic coastal ridge or barrier island where excessive soil <br />permeability exists. <br />12. New subdivisions located in flood hazard areas or with lots smaller than <br />sixty-five thousand (65,000) square feet, shall not use front, rear or side lot <br />swales as a method for stormwater runoff treatment, except as provided <br />for below. Swales for runoff transference (conveyance) are allowed and <br />shall be designed to maintain a minimum elevation above the twenty -five- <br />year, twenty -four-hour storm event (one (1) foot above twenty -five-year, <br />twenty -four-hour storm is recommended) and contain positive flow <br />(minimum slope of three -tenths (0.3) percent). At the discretion of the <br />public works director, subdivisions not located in a special flood hazard <br />area and having lots less than sixty-five thousand (65,000) square feet in <br />size, are mawobtain a waiver from these swale prohibitions <br />and restrictions, in part or whole, based on site and soil conditions. <br />Waivers will be limited to sites located on the barrier island and the <br />Atlantic coastal ridge running just west of U.S. Highway 1. <br />13. All new developments located in the shallow aquifer recharge areas <br />identified in Figure 3.D.2 of the natural groundwater aquifer recharge sub <br />element of the county's comprehensive plan shall retain the increase in <br />run-off volume resulting from a twenty -five-year, twenty -four-hour storm <br />event. <br />14. All slopes greater than six (6) horizontal to one (1) vertical shall be <br />sodded. Flatter slopes, depending on site-specific design, may also be <br />required to be sodded as part of the stormwater management system <br />permit.
