DRAFT POLICY <br />Revised 11/22/82 <br />November 22, 1982 <br />Mayor William Cochrane - City of Vero Beach <br />Mayor Pat Flood, Jr. - Sebastian <br />Mayor Lee Johnston - Town of Orchid <br />Mayor Ed Nolan - Indian River Shores <br />Mayor Alvin Thomas - Fellsmere <br />Re: Traffic Signal- Jurisdiction/Maintenance Policy <br />Sir: <br />The Indian River County Transportation Planning Committee <br />has determined that it would be beneficial to establish a <br />County -wide policy relative to the maintenance of traffic <br />signals. Maintenance within the text of this policy shall <br />include the upgrading and/or modification. <br />The attached matrix has been developed from the following <br />suggested policy: <br />1. A signal approved for installation or installed by the <br />State on a State highway system will, be the maintenance <br />responsibility of the political subdivision in which it <br />is located (this has been State Department of Transpor- <br />tation policy). Should maintenance of the State highway <br />be transferred to the County, the determination of main- <br />tenance responsibility would be based upon Number 2. <br />below. <br />2.
