City of Fells ere Request to curb <br />C.R. 507 Median <br />FROM: Ji„ mss,i' REFERENCES: 1) Albert van Auken to Jim Davis <br />Elie Warkss irector dated 1-18-83 <br />2) Minutes of Sept. 14, 1982 <br />Transportation Planning <br />Committee Meeting <br />DESCRIPTION AND CMMITIONS . <br />During the June 16, 1982 meeting of the Board.of County Commissioners, staff was <br />directed to submit the request to curb C.R. 507 (3,800 L.F. of curb) from Fells - <br />`&are Mayor Thomas to the Transportation Planning Ccamittee for their recc m - <br />tion. The T.P.C. considered the matter on 9-14-82, and a copy of the minutes of <br />that meeting is attached. Basically, the Committee reomwnded that', cost estimates <br />for railroad cross ties and landscaping be obtained. A cost estimate for this work <br />has been obtained, and the materials Cost is estimated at $7,270.50. A cost <br />estimate for curbing has been obtained, and this cost is estimated at $3.45 per <br />lineal foot (Trodglen Paving). <br />ALTERNATIVES AND. ANALYSIS <br />The alternatives presented include: <br />A. install cross ties at a materials cost of $7,270.50.•(See memo dated <br />• 1-18-83 from Albert van Auken to Jim Davis) <br />B. Install concrete cubing at a cost of $3.45 per lineal, foot. For the <br />3,800 L.F. of cub, the cost would be approximately $13,110. <br />C. Allow existing condition to remain. <br />It is reOmwnaed that Alternative B be approved whereby the County and City jointly <br />mpartira pate in the oonstniction of the concrete curb and landscaping to the C.R. 507 <br />median at a cost of approximately $13,110. Funding to be from Road and Bridge <br />Materials Account (uncatrmi tted funds $50,000). <br />Jim Davis explained that their first recommendation was <br />for the installation of cross ties on C.R. 507 Median in <br />Fellsmere, but they since have learned that Trodglen Paving <br />has acquired a new machine that.pours set -form curbing and <br />has since estimated a cost of $13,110. It was his recom- <br />mendation that the County should go ahead with this company <br />and have concrete curbing installed. Commissioner Wodtke <br />asked if the $13,110 figure was the total cost of labor, <br />etc. Mr. Davis explained that the figure is just for the <br />concrete curbing work and does not include our labor, but <br />that our labor charge would be considerably less than if we <br />No <br />�.� 2 1983 1?15 <br />
