9 t1K 52.FxE 734 <br />support of the Board in having the law amended so that the <br />uses for a Resort Tax could be broadened to include beach <br />care, beach renourishment, and beach acquisition. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Lyons <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Wodtke, that <br />the Board of County Commissioners go on <br />record as supporting the use of Resort <br />Tax for funding beach care, beach <br />renourishment and the purchase of <br />beach property. <br />Discussion was held as to the advisability of using <br />words relating to acquiring beach property, and it was felt <br />advisable to keep the request to the Legislature as simple <br />as possible. <br />Commissioners Lyons and Wodtke agreed to reword their <br />Motion as follows: <br />ON MOTION MADE by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Wodtke, the <br />Board voted 4-1, with Commissioner <br />Fletcher opposed, to have the Commis- <br />sion go on record as supporting the <br />use of a Resort Tax for beach nourish- <br />ment and care, to authorize the County <br />Attorney to draft a proposal in this <br />regard for presentation to the local <br />Delegation, to adopt a Resolution <br />supporting the State Legislature in <br />adopting it, and to request the State <br />Association of County Commissioners, <br />the City of Vero Beach, and the League <br />of Municipalities to do the same. <br />31 <br />
