heard the Youthful Offender people were still interested, he <br />suggested they get in touch with the Wabasso community <br />through Mrs. Ingram or her attorney to see if some joint <br />relationship couldn't be worked out. <br />Commissioner Lyons stressed that when the Wabasso <br />community takes on this facility, they take on a tremendous <br />liability, especially with regard to the insurance and <br />maintenance situation. He wondered if they have figured out <br />exactly what they stand at this time as to their budget <br />needs, etc., and felt the community owes the Commission an <br />answer very shortly as to whether or not they can handle <br />this facility. <br />Mrs. Ingram replied that no one has contacted her about <br />anything; in addition, she was not aware of any further <br />vandalism since the time the School Board vacated the <br />building nor of any parties going on there. She reported <br />that her group is working hard to be able to use this as a ' <br />social recreational center for the community; they have <br />talked to several different agencies, and the Treasure Coast <br />Seniors were interested in the cafeteria for their Meals on <br />Wheels Program, but their regulations require that it would <br />have to have bathrooms and they do not have the money to put <br />into this. The Economics Opportunities Council has indi- <br />cated that they would like to sublease the four rooms <br />formerly used for the kindergarten area. Mrs. Ingram <br />continued that they are stili waiting to hear from the <br />Medical Group, and Attorney McDonough has called them but <br />has not had any response. Mrs. Ingram felt she had informed <br />the Board previously that their budget would require $20,000 <br />and the only money they had was $2,000, which is the reason <br />that, rather than them taking over everything, they were <br />going to have to go into separate subleases. <br />Question arose as to the reason for the lack of contact <br />with the Medical Group and it was Commissioner Scurlock's <br />61 <br />FEB 16 1983 mo <br />
