MAR 2 1983 <br />WHERgAS, the imposition of a reasonable gill net <br />licensing program can serve as an educational tool to stem the <br />misuse of such nets thereby preventing abuses, and <br />WHEREAS, funds derived from the licensing program could <br />be best utilized enhancing law enforcement efforts in the rivers, <br />further protecting this delicate resource. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br />1. The Board of County Comm ssioners of Indian River <br />County, Florida supports -the efforts of the commercial and sports <br />fishermen of Indian River County in preservatio��of the Indian <br />River, the Sebastian River and Intracoastal Waterway, and <br />2. The legislature of the State of Florida is urged to <br />adopt a reasonable gill net licenci. g and education program for <br />commercial and sports fishermen in the Indian River, the Sebastian <br />River and Intracoastal Waterway. <br />The foregoing resolution was offered by Commissioner <br />Lyons who moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Scurlock <br />and upon being put to <br />P g p a vote, the <br />vote was as. follows: <br />Chairman Richard N. Bird - <br />AyeVice-Chairman Don C. Scurlock Jr - <br />Aye <br />Commissioner Patrick B. Lyons - Aye <br />Commissioner William C.
