that there was, however, a $2002 Change Order for some other <br />miscellaneous work which Mr. Hedin did perform at the jail. <br />Commissioner Scurlock did not feel it is standard <br />practice.to pay anyone for costs they encounter in giving a <br />bid, and he wished to know why we are not dealing with the <br />prime contractor. <br />Mr. Davis stated that Barry's Ornamental Iron some time <br />ago withdrew any claim for reimbursement for costs incurred <br />with ordering the jail door. <br />i <br />Chairman Bird wished to know if the door is installed <br />at this time, and was informed that it is not; the County <br />initiated the order for the door Mr. Hedin now possesses and <br />it was delivered to the wrong place. <br />Attorney Brandenburg confirmed that the county made <br />arrangements on its own with the Roanoke firm, and that firm <br />made the mistake of shipping our door to Mr. Hedin. He <br />emphasized that we have no contractual relationship with Mr. <br />Hedin whatsoever or with Barry's Ornamental Iron. <br />It was generally agreed there was a large misunder- <br />standing. Commissioner Wodtke spoke of Mr. Hedin's fine <br />reputation and stated that he hated to see us squabble about <br />$580. <br />Mr. Hedin reiterated his willingness to put the door in <br />complete at his original price of $5,700, but Mr. Davis <br />pointed out that the County could get this done at a <br />considerably lower cost.
