He stated that in the County <br />area from the south City limits down through The Moorings <br />there is a general consensus that the residents were in <br />favor ofa bicycle path. They understand that the burden is <br />on the populous in that area to prove that they do want <br />these services and are willing to pay for them. They would <br />like some help from the County. Mr. Collins continued that <br />he has an engineering report from Public Works Director <br />Davis on the way of going about this; the question they need <br />r <br />answered is how much will the impact be on the land owners. <br />Mr. Collins also requested the help of the County Attorney <br />in preparing an ordinance so they could have that in place <br />prior to budget sessions and then appear before the Board <br />showing need with the hope that the Board would budget for <br />this upcoming year either part of or all the funds <br />necessary. <br />Commissioner Scurlock stated that he personally <br />supports the concept. He believed, however, that consider- <br />ation of a special district for maintenance of the common <br />areas is already afoot in this same area. <br />Mr. Collins noted that it is simply a matter of <br />competing for dollars, and it is up to the people to decide <br />if they want this district and will support it in <br />conjunction with the other. <br />Chairman Bird wished to know what Mr. Collins <br />specifically wished of the Board today, and Mr. Collins <br />stated that he needs a sample ordinance and the tax impact <br />information. He further noted that it would save him a step <br />if the Commission would authorize the County Attorney to <br />publish a proposed ordinance. <br />Chairman Bird asked about the bicycle paths desired <br />within the City boundaries. Mr. Collins felt that is a <br />separate issue and he will carry that forward as well, but <br />even if the City did not move ahead at this time, he would <br />87 Box. 53 PACE ��.�.. <br />AR � X93 .. <br />
