RESOLUTION NO. 63- 40 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA DECLARING THE <br />ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN PARCELS OF PROPERTY FOR <br />RIGHT-OF-WAY PURPOSES FOR THE 16TH STREET ROADWAY <br />IMPROVEMENT PROJECT IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, TO BE <br />A PUBLIC NECESSITY AND AUTHORIZING THE EMPLOYMENT <br />OF APPRAISERS, NEGOTIATION FOR ACQUISITION AND THE <br />FILING OF EMINENT DOMAIN PROCEEDINGS. <br />WHEREAS, the County road known as 16th Street is an <br />important east -west secondary collector in the Indian River County <br />Thoroughfare Plan, and <br />WHEREAS, current traffic levels on the roadway necessi- <br />tate a program of improvements to accommodate increased vehicular <br />and pedestrian traffic flow, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board -of County Commissioners has previ- <br />ously through competitive negotiation hired an engineering firm to <br />provide professional engineering services with respect to the <br />project, and <br />WHEREAS, the consulting engineers have advised Indian <br />River County that to accomplish an effective improvement program <br />it will be necessary to expand the existing right-of-way, and <br />WHEREAS, the consulting engineers have identified the <br />parcels that are necessary to acquire which are attached hereto <br />and incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit "A" to this reso- <br />lution, and <br />WHEREAS, the acquisition of the additional right-of-way <br />is the most feasible means of solving the vehicular and pedestrian <br />transportation problem currently existing on 16th Street and is, <br />therefore, a public necessity and the acquisition of such land is <br />necessary and essential to the best interests of Indian River <br />County, and <br />WHEREAS, in order to accomplish acquisition of this real <br />property it is necessary for the County Engineer and County <br />Attorney to take legal action, employ real estate appraisers, <br />negotiate for the purchase of said land, and to take any and all <br />other action necessary to acquire the property. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br />OBJ ?ACC 65.0 <br />JUIN 1 1983 <br />
