M
JAYCEES REQUEST PARTICIPATION WITH FIREWORKS
Carl Fetzer, III, appeared representing the Vero Beach
Jaycees and informed the Board that this year they are
planning to participate with the Dodgers in their 4th of
July fireworks display at Holman Stadium. The Dodgers only
have about $3,500 for this purpose, and the Jaycees hope to
be able to come up with about $7,500, which would provide a
display lasting at least half an hour. He realized that $1,000 doesn't
sound like a lot of money, but pointed out that this year we
are faced with the possibility of having to eliminate some
jobs. We have groups asking for funds such as Spouse Abuse,
the Visiting Nurses Association, etc., and he did not know
how we answer the question that we don't contribute to the
Sebastian fireworks display. Commissioner Scurlock could
not imagine that in a community of this size that people
would not be willing to contribute as opposed to relying on
93
6909 ;,5,3 PnE M7
