Bird noted that the Fire Fighters Fair was a one-week, <br />once -a -year event, and he envisioned many other activities <br />taking place at this site. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Scurlock, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bowman, that the <br />Board authorize the Chairman to work with <br />staff as needed to develop a cost estimate <br />and preliminary conceptual plans for a County <br />Fairground to be established in Kiwanis <br />Hobart Park and return to the Commission for <br />formal approval. <br />Commissioner Bowman questioned the exact location of <br />the proposed site, and recalled that there was a spot up in <br />Kiwanis Hobart Park dedicated to the Audubon Society for a <br />nature trail. Chairman Bird described the proposed site and <br />Commissioner Bowman felt it is the same area and that <br />perhaps a swap could be made. Chairman Bird requested <br />Attorney Brandenburg to check to see if we are talking about <br />the same area. <br />Commissioner Lyons felt that the County should retain a <br />certain amount of the wooded area in Kiwanis-Hobart Park, <br />and Chairman Bird assured him there would be a minimal <br />amount of clearing done in that area. <br />Commissioner Bowman agreed that the County should <br />maintain control and provide shaded parking. <br />The Chairman CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />The Motion was voted on and carried <br />unanimously. <br />Chairman Bird reported that they had received a letter <br />from Jack Sturgis, who is Chairman of the Kiwanis Hobart <br />56 <br />JUN 15 1983 53 775 <br />
