He felt it would point out even more the eyesore that <br />still exists in the parking area on the north side of 16th <br />St. and hoped that consideration will again be given by the <br />City, County and the School Board to pursuing the plan by <br />Lloyd & Associates to landscape, buffer, and provide paved <br />parking and good drainage in that area adjacent to the <br />softball fields and the strip going down 17th Avenue. <br />Chairman Bird had been advised that it was not feasible <br />to tie this in with the main project, but that it could be <br />handled by a local firm on a separate bid. However, Mr. <br />McQueen advised that the base price figures have changed <br />since the beginning of the project and felt that it might be <br />very advantageous to work this into the project now, if the <br />contractor would do it at the agreed unit price. <br />Commissioner Scurlock asked whether gas tax monies <br />would be available for this particular purpose. Director <br />Davis was not familiar with the strings attached to these <br />monies and suggested we get an opinion. <br />Chairman Bird felt that we should reopen that issue and <br />see if there is a possibility of dovetailing it into this <br />project.
