He pointed out that the airport property was bought <br />with federal money and turned over to the City. He stated <br />that all funds that come in through the use of the airport <br />must be used for airport purposes, which benefits just a few <br />citizens. He disliked the situation where the County would <br />purchase a piece of property and lease another. He would <br />like to see the County, the City and the FAA sit down face <br />to face and iron out these problems and get something <br />moving. He felt that the City is not working in the best <br />interests of the entire community by deciding not to sell <br />the property. <br />Administrator Wright suggested that the first step <br />should be to find out what it is worth and know if we even <br />have a bargaining position. He felt the County cannot sell <br />or lease to -use without an MAI appraisal. <br />Considerable discussion ensued regarding ,appraisals of <br />industrial zoned land compared to agricultural property, and <br />that it would probably take 20 days minimum to receive the <br />appraisal. <br />Chairman Bird agreed that the County should try to <br />purchase the 10 acres to add to the Graves 20 acres, but <br />felt another issue would be to look at the areas as <br />suggested by Mr. Zorc. <br />Commissioner Lyons felt that we should know what the <br />relative costs are for the total site and we must have an <br />appraisal. He suggested 1) that we defer signing the <br />agreement with Graves today, and 2) that we formally <br />request the City again to sell the property. <br />Administrator Wright reported the City is getting the <br />appraisal and that once we get an appraisal price, the <br />decisions will fall in line quickly. <br />61 <br />
