Business Administration Parks & Recreational Area - <br />Development Program. <br />Director Thomas explained the urgency of the matter is <br />that the Modification to Agreement must be signed by the <br />Chairman and returned in three days He stressed that the <br />State has required that these monies must be expended by <br />September 30, 1983. Due to the short timeframe, he <br />requested that he be given the authority to enter into a <br />contract with the people who are going to do this work and <br />that all permits be subject to the approval of the <br />Attorney's office. <br />Administrator Wright stated that they were.deviating <br />from normal bidding procedures due to the short timeframe. <br />Urban Forester Paul Palmiotto stated that they chose <br />the low bidder on the 17th Street median project to do the <br />landscaping in Gifford Park and Kiwanis-Hobart Park. <br />Forester Palmiotto listed the four locations to benefit <br />from the grant: <br />1)'Gifford Park - additional shade trees, and <br />extension of the proposed irrigation system. <br />2) Hobart-Kiwanis Park - sod around restrooms <br />and sod, mulch and trees around the park <br />office. <br />3) Jungle Trail - salt -tolerant grasses, shrubs <br />and trees to stabilize erosion caused by boat <br />traffic. <br />4) 17th Street Median - planting -of drought and <br />freeze tolerant plants and change in irrigation <br />systema <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner.Lyons, the Board <br />unanimously authorized the Chairman's signature <br />on the Modification to Agreement as described <br />above. <br />19 <br />SEP '7 13 <br />
