The uses allowed by this draft ordinance are based on both of <br />these activities. <br />At their July 28, 1983 meeting, the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission voted to recommend to the Board of County <br />Commissioners that this draft ordinance be approved. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br />approve the ordinance establishing a new zoning district to <br />be known as the Heavy Commercial, C-2 District. <br />Robert Keating, Planning & Zoning Dept. Manager, <br />explained that the proposed ordinance was prepared as an <br />addition to the County's zoning codes to provide for a heavy <br />commercial district where large scale or.highly intensive <br />commercial land uses may be located. Some of the types of <br />uses in the ordinance will include drive-in businesses, <br />service stations, warehouses, car washes, truck terminals, <br />and other types of highway businesses. He advised that the <br />Planning & Zoning Commission at its meeting of July 28th <br />recommended that the Board adopt this ordinance. <br />Chairman Bird.opened the Public Hearing and -asked if <br />anyone wished to be heard. <br />George C. Collins, attorney representing Mr. & Mrs. _. <br />Ralph Shaft, owners of a mini -warehouse complex on Oslo <br />Road, explained that his clients wished to expand and cannot <br />because of the current zoning requirements, and they are <br />proponents of changing this ordinance. <br />L_ SEP 7,1983 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Scurlock, <br />the Board unanimously closed the <br />Public Hearing. <br />
