Davis, P.E., <br />Public Works Directo <br />DATE: August 26, 1983 FILE: �- <br />SUBJECT: Oslo Daybeacons Approval of Final Payme <br />FROM: Donald G. Finney l: -r REFERENCES: <br />Engineering Technician <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Public Works Project #8218, the installation of 12 daybeacons marking the channel <br />from the Oslo Boat Ramp to the Intracoastal Waterway, has been completed. <br />The completed project was inspected by staff August 24, 1983 and constructed according <br />to.the terms of the contract and sound Engineering practices. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The Board of County Commissioners awarded the contract to Florida Marine Contractors <br />for $7SOO.and approved a Florida Boating Improvement Fund DNR contract for $8940. <br />Public Works Engineering Department initiated a change order to straighten the <br />channel which created a more direct route to the inland waterway and a deeper <br />channel in most places than. the original channel route. This action was also <br />taken to provide better protection to the area grass beds. <br />This engineering change necessitated moving of pilings in rock and an additional <br />9 hours work at $50 per hour at a cost of $450 by Florida Marine Contractors. <br />RECQ*ENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />It is recommended that the final payment to Florida Marine Contractors and extra <br />charge of $450 be approved. Following is the cost breakdown of the project: <br />-Estimated cost and FBIP obligated fiords $8940 <br />Florida Marine Contractors Contract $7800 <br />Florida Marine Contractors 9 hours extra work $ 450 <br />DER Permit Fee $ 100 <br />Total Project Cost $8350 <br />$590 below estimated cost <br />Public Works Director Davis stated that construction of <br />the project was completed and recommended approval of final <br />payment to Florida Marine Contractors.
