OCT 5 1983 is 5. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bowman, the Board <br />unanimously authorized the County Road & <br />Bridge Dept. to fill the potholes as a <br />contribution to the library. <br />Under discussion, Vice Chairman Scurlock stated he <br />would not even consider asking the City of Vero Beach for <br />any assistance as the City has withdrawn their financial <br />assistance from so many community projects. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />The Motion carried unanimously. <br />COUNTY TO ASSIST HARBOR BRANCH FOUNDATION IN MOSQUITO <br />CONTROL PROJECT <br />Commissioner Lyons stated that Harbor Branch Foundation <br />has a research program going on with the Mosquito Control <br />District in order to find a better way to manage the <br />impoundments to increase -the productivity of Indian River. <br />One of <br />the areas they <br />are studying <br />is an <br />impoundment <br />down by <br />Round <br />Island Park and <br />they need to <br />open <br />up a small <br />channel <br />between the impoundment and the river in order to sample the <br />marine life that would be discharged during that process. <br />He understood that it would be just a minimal job to open up <br />a ditch with a grade -all, but Harbor Branch does not have <br />the equipment. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bowman, that the Board <br />authorize Community Services Director Thomas to <br />determine and make any reasonable assistance <br />available to Harbor Branch in re to the above <br />40 <br />
