OCT 121983 <br />Mgt "I <br />Mrs. Poupard noted that the fence height allowed in <br />front yards has been raised 6", and fences in the side yard <br />made the same height as the rear. Both the Planning staff <br />and the Planning & Zoning Commission recommend approval. <br />Commissioner Lyons wished to know whether a high <br />security fence with three strands of barbed wire on top is <br />considered a barbed wire fence, and Planning Manager Keating <br />stated that a fence with any barbed wire on it is considered <br />a barbed wire fence. <br />Chairman Bird believed we used to have something that <br />discouraged the use of barbed wire fences in residential <br />zoning and wished to know if that still holds true. <br />Planning & Zoning Commission Chairman Eggert noted that <br />in MXD districts such as on Oslo Road, for example, where <br />there is commercial and industrial mixed in with residen- <br />tial, there have been some very legitimate requests for <br />fences with barbed wire on top .
