A Motion made by Commissioner Wodtke to increase the <br />Administrator's salary by 20 from $46,000 to $48,000, died <br />for lack of a second. He then asked that his Motion be <br />withdrawn until everyone had the.opportunity to speak. <br />Commissioner Scurlock praised the Administrator's <br />abilities and felt that his efforts merit more than a 2% <br />increase. He suggested that the increa92 be more in the <br />neighborhood of 3.5%-3.7%, and felt that if we are going to <br />keep men such as Administrator Wright's caliber away from <br />private industry, we have to pay them comparable salaries. <br />Commissioner Lyons thought that Administrator Wright <br />had come into the County at a most difficult time and felt <br />that he has done a marvelous job in putting the County <br />affairs in order. <br />Commissioner Bowman admired Administrator Wright's <br />professionalism and agreed that she would hate to lose him <br />to private industry. <br />Chairman Bird felt that all the commissioners had <br />described Administrator Wright very well. He confirmed <br />that Administrator Wright has handled some tough decisions <br />during the past year and made his job as Chairman much <br />easier. The Chairman concurred that Mr. Wright's salary <br />should be high enough to ensure his staying with the County. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Scurlock, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bowman, that the Board <br />unanimously set the level of the County <br />Administrator's compensation at $48,939, a 3.70 <br />increase; retroactive to the beginning of the <br />fiscal year, 10/1/83. <br />Under discussion, Administrator Wright stated that he <br />believes that he is the only employee with a 3 -year contract <br />19 <br />mt 55 ?ku 99 <br />
