Nov 21983 <br />County does not want to say that all licensed architects or <br />engineers are eligible for the list, because if someone on <br />that list turns out to be not qualified, it opens up an area <br />of potential responsibility for the County. <br />Mrs. Ester Rymer, Building Director, defined a <br />threshold building as being any structure which has a total <br />floor area exceeding 25,000 square feet, or is greater than <br />2 stories, or 25 feet in height, or has an assembly <br />occupancy greater than 5,000 square feet, or is of unusual <br />design or construction as determined by the building <br />official. There is an exception to this: a residential <br />structure 3 stories or less in height, and any building <br />defined in the Statute which refers to agricultural <br />buildings and single family residences and duplexes. <br />Commissioner Wodtke understood that this would <br />include churches, large grocery stores, and shopping <br />centers. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Scurlock, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Wodtke, that the Board <br />authorize Mrs. Ester Rymer to work with the County <br />Building Board of Adjustments and Appeals to come <br />back with appropriate standards for qualifying <br />special inspectors and authorize in the interim <br />the use of the form suggested by the County <br />Attorney. <br />Commissioner Wodtke felt that he has•a problem with the <br />owner establishing the amount of the fee with the inspector <br />and asked if there was some way the County could establish <br />the amount of fees. <br />Attorney Brandenburg explained that there are diverse <br />feelings, state-wide., on how rates should be established, <br />S Some parties feel that the fees should be determined by <br />56 <br />
