Commission to give serious consideration to the following <br />points: <br />1. that the county formulate longi; -ranee planning; to <br />determine the future demands for public wader and <br />that miblic water be provided to approved sub- <br />divisions when they become 50% developed and <br />occupied with dwelling units; <br />2. that the county require its residents to hook-up to <br />existing; public water when it is available; <br />3. that the county standardize the placement of wells <br />and septic tanks (this is included in the subdivision <br />and platting ordinance); <br />4. that the standardized placement require septic tanks <br />to be located in the front yards and wells in rear. <br />Chairman Bird suggested that the Board address each <br />item separately, and Administrator Wright suggested that <br />items 3 & 4 be taken first. <br />Items #3 & #4 <br />Administrator Wright felt we should have standard- <br />ization but should not specify that septic tanks be placed <br />in the front or back in order to give us the flexibility in <br />each subdivision. <br />In the ensuing discussion, it was noted that it is <br />going to be difficult to adopt a policy that would apply to <br />subdivisions that are already platted. <br />Attorney Brandenburg advised that a vehicle for <br />standardization is provided in the new subdivision <br />ordinance, which requires staff to investigate every <br />subdivision to see if there is any difficulty with an <br />individual being able to place a septic tank in a specific <br />pattern. If so, they will then require deed restrictions <br />placed on the plat itself saying that the tank be placed <br />either in the front or the back, respectfully. <br />Michael Galanis, Director of Environmental Health, <br />reported that his department is presently surveying property <br />NOV 16 1983 <br />59 <br />BOOK 55 <br />rnif.346 <br />
