-DEC 21 1993 <br />609K 55 PAf E701 <br />WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT SEMINAR <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bowman, the <br />Board unanimously (3-0) approved the, <br />attendance of Vice Chairman Scurlock and <br />a Utilities Dept. staff member at <br />the Wastewater Management Seminar to be <br />held in Tallahassee on Jan. 10-11, 1984. <br />TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE REPORT <br />Vice Chairman Scurlock reported that no formal action <br />was taken at the last meeting of the Transportation Planning <br />Committee. <br />The representatives from the Gifford community, Victor <br />Hart and Ralph Lundy, did attend the meeting and got an <br />update on the federal revenue money spent on improvements in <br />the Gifford area over the last ten years. <br />An invitation was extended to review staff's procedures <br />in setting priorities within the technical staff, as well as <br />within the community itself. <br />There was some discussion and a recommendation made <br />that flashing beacons be installed at all schools in the <br />County. It was the consensus'of the committee that this was <br />important enough and general enough to be paid for out of <br />general sources of revenue. The total cost is.approximately <br />$24,000 to install a flashing signal at every school zone in <br />the County. <br />JAIL COMMITTEE REPORT <br />Commissioner Lyons expressed his frustration in regard <br />to the last meeting of the Jail Committee at which the <br />architects presented the plans, etc., as there seems to be a <br />continuing escalation of charges. <br />He felt that he has <br />51 <br />� � r <br />
