T83-06-10 <br />Gifford Area Traffic Plan <br />SM%I M OF RECObMENDATIONS <br />South Gifford Road (41st Street) <br />Widen pavement to 24 feet from Old Dixie Highway to 58th Avenue; <br />Install sidewalk from 28th Avenue to 43rd Avenue; <br />Install curbing and improve drainage at Old Dixie Highway; <br />Install guardrail and replace the flashing beacon at 58th <br />Avenue. <br />North Gifford Road (45th Street) <br />Improve and install sidewal]-s from U.S. 1 to King's Highway; <br />Re-route through -truck traffic; <br />Regrade shoulders on the south side of the roadway; <br />Install curbing and resurface the intersection at Old Dixie <br />Highway; <br />Install guardrail at 43rd Avenue; <br />Install guardrail and replace the flashing beacon at 58th <br />Avenue. <br />Lindsey Road (49th Street) <br />Extend -and pave Lindsey Road as a two-lane roadway between U.S. <br />1 and King's Highway to serve through -truck traffic. <br />Public Works Director Jim Davis presented staff's <br />recommendation to adopt the Gifford Area Traffic Improvement <br />Plan dated December 27, 1983. He pointed out that the <br />extension of Lindsey Road, as noted on the above summary, <br />would include the construction of a bridge over the Lateral <br />H Canal. He recommended that the bridge construction be <br />done out -of -house. The estimated cost for these <br />improvements is $1,073,988. This figure does not include <br />any costs for right-of-way acquisition. Staff is assuming <br />that right-of-ways will be donated and do not anticipate <br />much trouble in this respect.
