He recommended we either add this position or <br />turn this claim work back to the insurance company and pay <br />the additional fee. <br />Chairman Scurlock commented that in our original <br />consideration between the two insurance companies, the <br />difference was quite close; $25,000 or less - possibly <br />$10,000 or $15,000. We are saving by taking the approach we <br />did, but now we are proposing to spend $11,000, which brings <br />the two bids even closer, and the Chairman noted that he has <br />been hearing that the level of service we are receiving from <br />Gulf may not be too good. <br />Administrator Wright confirmed that we did have some <br />claim service problems with Gulf, but he had some heart to <br />heart talks with them. Service has improved, and -he <br />believed Gulf will maintain that service; if not, he stated <br />that he will come back to the Board and recommend a change <br />of carriers. <br />Commissioner Wodtke stated that he would try to <br />moderate his comments, but he felt he must say "I told you <br />so." He went on to express great concern about the optional <br />life insurance which apparently has been canceled with <br />refund checks to be issued from the inception date of <br />12/1/83, and wished to know what happened to the premiums <br />paid between September and December. <br />Mrs. Hoder explained that the optional life insurance <br />didn't go into effect until December 1st, but Commissioner <br />Wodtke wished to know how this affected those who had <br />optional life insurance with Aetna.
