Davis, P . E. "REFERENCES: <br />Public Works Directo <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The Public Works Division received bids on the subject project <br />on April 11, 1984. The following is a summary <br />Engineering Dept. Estimate Dickerson, Inc. Ft. Pierce <br />Contracting Corp. <br />Water Main $49,245 $72,363.15 $67,149.15 <br />Intersection Imp. $55,316 $105,836.40 $106,500.00 <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The above bids received were substantially above the Engineering <br />estimate. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends that <br />1) The Water Main Extension to serve the Road and Bridge <br />Dept., Humane Society, and County Jail site be rebid. <br />2) The Road and Bridge Department perform the paving and <br />intersection improvements with County forces. This work <br />will be performed after substantial right-of-way acquisition <br />takes place. <br />3) The Board of County Commissioners not award the bids received <br />April 11, 1984. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />agreed not to award the bids received April 11, <br />1984, on the water main extension to serve the <br />Road & Bridge Dept., Humane Society and County <br />Jail, but to rebid same; the Road and Bridge <br />Department to perform the paving and intersection <br />improvements as recommended by staff. <br />12 <br />
