rc <br />MAY'2 3 1994 BOOK 5T FAa 173`.. <br />Attorney Stewart introduced Dale Sorensen, Chairman of <br />the Board of Trustees of St. Edward's School, who urged the <br />Commission to address the concerns of their small community <br />of students and faculty members. He indicated that they <br />could not determine today whether Mr. Lloyd's proposed <br />changes are acceptable to them until reviewing the report <br />being done by an expert in the field of potential health <br />dangers caused by aerosols, and they feel that the <br />assumption that the DER or HRS will address these issues is <br />not enough. Mr. Sorensen felt strongly that every possible <br />alternative should be explored before this plant is located <br />in this area. St. Edward's will not say that it is the <br />right or wrong location -- what they will say is that there <br />is a potential for a serious health problerr- in'the future <br />and if there is any way to avoid it, it should be done so <br />now. Mr. Sorenson wished to go on record as opposing this <br />site plan approval. He reported that he had met with Mr. <br />Gonzalez, President of the Moorings Development Company, and <br />assured him that the trustees of the school agree that they <br />do not want to be arbitrary or obstruct the Moorings <br />development program in any way, but they are asking for a <br />reasonable period of time for all avenues and alternatives <br />to be explored before a decision is made on the site plan <br />application. <br />Commissioner Bird indicated the Board's reluctance to <br />place a wastewater treatment plant either near a school or a <br />development. Mr. Sorenson agreed that it is a difficult <br />situation at best. <br />Attorney Stewart recommended that the Board vacate the <br />site plan approval and send the matter back to the Planning <br />& Zoning Commission for further consideration of the <br />additional information concerning the effects of aerosols. <br />Frank Micale, attorney representing Hutchinson <br />Utilities, Inc., cautioned that the utility is reaching a <br />54 <br />
