Administrator Wright thought that we need to make a• - <br />distinction between this group and the Overall Economic <br />Development Planning Committee, and Planning Director Robert <br />Keating explained that the formation of the OEDP Committee <br />resulted out of the County applying for EDP grants.. In <br />order to be eligible for those grants, the County was <br />required to have an Overall Economic Development Plan <br />prepared by a committee composed of members representing a <br />cross section of the community. He explained that the OEDP <br />committee will be more of a long-range planning committee <br />that will develop some specific strategy, but it would not <br />be a day to day committee. Administrator Wright thought <br />that one committee would compliment the other. <br />Intergovernmental Director Tommy Thomas pointed out in <br />regard to the ODEP Committee, that there is frequently a <br />borderline on what is quasi public and quasi private, as far <br />as industrial development is concerned. He noted there are <br />certain economic functions that might best be developed by <br />government -- not many, but there are some, particularly if <br />it is County -owned property. Basically, the goal of both <br />committees is to create employment. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />The Motion was voted on and carried <br />unanimously (4-0). <br />DEMOLITION LIEN - MINNIS PROPERTY <br />Attorney Brandenburg explained that William Copeland <br />Minnis, Jr. originally approached Commissioner Lyons with <br />respect to removing a lien that was imposed on his property <br />by virtue of an unsafe building. Mr. Minnis is requesting <br />that the County waive interest that has accrued at 6% annum <br />since the lien was imposed in 1981.
