Award of Bid <br />- 8" Water Main Extension along <br />43rd <br />Ave. <br />to South Gifford Road and West on South Gifford Road to 47th <br />Ave. - Utilities Dept. <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 6/28/84: <br />TO: The Honorable Members of DATE: June 28, 1984 FILE: <br />the Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Michael Wright, <br />County Administrator <br />SUBJECT: Recommendation for Award of Bid - <br />8" Water Main Extension Along <br />43rd Avenue to South Gifford Road <br />and West on South Gifford Road to <br />47th Avenue for Utilities Dept. <br />FROM: James W. Davis, P.E. REFERENCES: <br />Public Works Directo <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Sealed bids were received on June 27, 1984 for the construction <br />of an 8" Water Main along 43rd Avenue and South Gifford Road <br />to provide water to all consumers along the routb. The project <br />was bid in April, 1984 and bids were rejected due to the bids <br />being over budget. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Two bidders responded as follows <br />Owl and Associates, Inc. $43,182.00 <br />Vicon Construction Corp. $95,941.00 <br />Both bidders have supplied a 5% bid bond and both bids are <br />in order. The Public Works Division Engineering estimate is <br />$49,245. Bids received April 11, 1984 were $72,363:15 from <br />Dickerson, Inc. and $67,149.15 from Ft. Pierce Contracting Corp. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />It is recommended that the bid be awarded to Owl and Associates, <br />Inc. in the low bid amount of $43,182. Funding to be from the <br />Utilities Dept. Impact Fee Fund. Balance as bf June 28, 1984 <br />is $1,085,000. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bowman, the Board <br />unanimously (3-0) awarded the bid for the <br />extension of an 8" water main along 43rd <br />Ave. to South Gifford Rd. and West on South <br />Gifford Rd. to 47th Ave. to Owl and Associates, <br />Inc., in the amount of $43,182. <br />12 <br />
