Commissioner Bird did not believe there has been a <br />great deal of commercial activity in that area in the last <br />few years and felt we may find a trend for having more <br />residential in there and less commercial. <br />Mr. Shearer stated that C-lA has discouraged builders <br />and C-1 allows a much broader range of uses. He again <br />emphasized that this change will not affect the residences <br />there now. <br />Chairman Scurlock noted that if a house that is built <br />on commercially zoned property burned down or was destroyed, <br />it could not be replaced as residential. <br />Luke Knight spoke from the audience in favor of the <br />rezoning. <br />Dan Richey, 75 Royal Palm Blvd., agreed that there has <br />not been much demand for commercial in that area for the <br />last three or four years, but he and his father-in-law, <br />Victor Knight, have noticed a significant increase in <br />development in the last few months. <br />Martha Adderly, 4481 U.S. #1, owner of a residence in <br />the area being discussed, asked how this would affect the <br />evaluation of her property, and Chairman Scurlock thought <br />that the evaluation would remain pretty much the same. <br />Commissioner Wodtke suggested that Mrs. Adderly ask Tax <br />Appraiser David Nolte for an appraised amount. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Wodtke, the Board <br />unanimously (4-0) closed the Public Hearing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bowman, the Board <br />unanimously (4-0) adopted Ordinance 84-38, <br />rezoning 16.33 acres from Restricted Commercial <br />to Commercial District. <br />19 <br />JUL 111984 BOOK 57 FACE 600 <br />I <br />
