JUL 18 1994 BOOK 57 F,�GE 763 <br />Commissioner Wodtke referred back to the downtown <br />parking situation, and felt it will be impossible for us to <br />continue to asphalt to create parking and people may just <br />have to walk further. He brought up the possibility of <br />trying to encourage private industry to become involved with <br />a multiple story parking type structure, but Chairman <br />Scurlock felt if people have to pay to park, it would <br />impact the merchants. <br />The alternative of downtown employees parking at a <br />distance and having a jitney service to get people to work <br />was discussed, and it was agreed the problem is growing both <br />downtown and in the beach area. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Wodtke, the Board unanimously <br />(4-0) authorized staff to proceed with the <br />third alternative as recommended, i.e., contact <br />the City of Vero Beach re a joint parking study <br />and agree in principal to contribute at some <br />future time to the provision of additional <br />parking. <br />OEDP COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS <br />Planning Director Keating reviewed his memo, as <br />follows: <br />50 <br />_I <br />
