Element Chief, Long -Range Planning CHIEF It is requested that the data herein presented be given formal consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at their regular meeting of August 8, 1984. DESCRIPTION & CONDITIONS Mr. Michael Orr, County Traffic Engineer, has recommended several changes to the County's Thoroughfare Plan which is part of the Transportation Element of the Comprehensive Plan. If adopted, these changes would alter the future right-of-way requirements for the affected roads. On March 22, 1984, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4 -to -0 to recommend approval of these proposed amendments. On April 10, 1984, the Transportation Advisory Committee voted unanimously to recommend approval of these proposed amendments. On May 7, 1984, the Florida Department of Community Affairs approved these proposed amendments. On May 21, 1984, the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council approved these proposed amendments. ALTERNATIVES & ANALYSIS The Planning Department has reviewed these proposed changes to the Thoroughfare Plan and has determined that they will not significantly affect the Land Use Plan, and will provide a better functional classification system based on the present character and projected traffic volumes for these roads. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners adopt the attached changes to the Thoroughfare Plan as an amendment to the Transportation Element of the Comprehensive Plan. Planner Richard Shearer presented staff's . recommendation that several changes be made in the County's Thoroughfare Plan which is part of the Transportation Element of the Comprehensive Plan. 27
