Use considerations will include: <br />a) Protecting important views to open land and water; <br />b) Providing buffers between potentially conflicting <br />areas of use; <br />c) Preserving unique natural vegetation or wildlife <br />habitats. <br />2. Open Space in Land Development - The County will <br />encourage development approaches which retain sub= <br />stantial areas of open space. Landscape and setback <br />requirements for all types of development will be <br />designed to integrate green space into the development <br />pattern. <br />3. Scenic Corridors - The County will initiate a long- <br />range program for the preservation of scenic routes on <br />roads that offer significant and unique views and <br />settings for public enjoyment. This will protect the <br />quality of views on the route from development of <br />adjacent property, and insure that use intensity and <br />congestion do not detract from the public's <br />opportunity to enjoy a leisurely scenic drive. <br />INVENTORY AND ANALYSIS: ,. <br />Presently, recreational opportunities are provided by the <br />County, Municipalities, schools and various private sources. <br />(See Tables 1-4.) <br />National and State recreation standards guide in <br />determining the demand for park space. The standards indicate <br />approximately 5 acres per 1,000 population should be allocated <br />to a; +Y;n-f- community parks. An additional 5 acres per 1,000 <br />population should be allocated to regional and special use <br />parks. The 1980 Census figures for the unincorporated areas of <br />the County indicate a population of 38,582.
