SEP 12 1984 BOOK 5 8 FAGS 25 <br />Herndon Williams, 27 Forest Park Drive, stated that he <br />has attended workshops on the nodes and he got the <br />impression that we seem to be doing what is convenient for <br />the staff rather than what is convenient for the public. He <br />realized that no plan is ever set in concrete as there might <br />be a way to do it better, and felt it was unfair to ask an <br />applicant to wait a year before asking for a change. <br />Mrs. Offutt advised that the Board of Realtors would be <br />agreeable to a 6 -month review. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Lyons, the Board <br />unanimously closed the Public Hearing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously <br />adopted Ordinance 84-62, amending the text of the <br />Land Use Element of the Comprehensive Plan <br />providing for Node Boundaries. <br />Attorney Brandenburg explained that in order to <br />address the 6 -month review process, the Board would have to <br />instruct staff to prepare an ordinance amending the <br />Comprehensive Land Use Plan. <br />Chairman Scurlock agreed that staff is here to serve <br />the public, but pointed out that in every business activity <br />priorities have to be set. <br />Administrator Wright thought that staff could work it <br />out -- either twice or 3 times a year. <br />Director Keating stated they would research the matter <br />and make a written recommendation to the Planning & Zoning <br />Commission. <br />25 <br />
