RESOLUTION NO. 84-62 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida, recognizes that the Old Winter Beach Road <br />and Bridgehead Property located on the Barrier Island has been <br />declared a scenic and historic trail from A -1-A to the river; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County is the owner of the Old <br />Winter Beach Road and Bridgehead Property; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida, on August 7, 1962, adopted resolution <br />62-51 relinquishing the maintenance and supervision of all County <br />roads situated within the boundaries of the Town of Indian River <br />.Shores to the Town of Indian River Shores; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Indian River <br />Shores on August 24, 1962, formally accepted the control, <br />maintenance and supervision of all county roads situated within <br />the boundaries of the Town of Indian River Shores; and <br />WHEREAS, the Winter Beach Road and Bridgehead Property <br />are County owned roads and right-of-way is situated within the <br />rboundaries of the Town of Indian River Shores; and <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of Indian River County have <br />expressed concern that the Town of Indian River Shores may have <br />the power to close, abandon, or give away to private interests the <br />Old Winter Beach Road and Bridgehead Property; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA as follows that: <br />1. It is in the historical interest of Indian River <br />County that the Old Winter Beach Road and Bridgehead Property <br />remain open and accessible to the public. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of County <br />Commissioners hereby requests that the Town Council of the Town of <br />Indian River Shores adopt a resolution: <br />1. Recognizing the historical importance of the Old <br />Winter Beach Road and Bridgehead Property; <br />2.
