SEP 12 1954 <br />BODS 58 F'riF 23. <br />Administrator Wright asked if the Commissioners wished <br />to send the budget amendment back to the Tax Collector. <br />The Commissioners stressed that in the future they <br />wanted to authorize the expenditure before the work was <br />done. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bird, the Board <br />approved the above budget amendment by a <br />vote of 3-2, Commissioner Lyons and Chairman <br />Scurlock dissenting. <br />JPROCLAMATION - GLORIA'S GIRLS <br />Chairman Scurlock read the following proclamation aloud <br />and presented it to Jodi and Julie Tamm and Diane Gentile. <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, a group of young ladies between the ages of <br />four and seventeen gathered together in September, 1978 to form a <br />majorette corps known as GLORIA'S GIRLS OF VERO BEACH: _and <br />WHEREAS, the teams comprising GLORIA'S GIRLS have <br />competed in local, state and national majorette events during the <br />past five years, accumulating over 2,000 individual and team <br />trophies, in addition to developing the poise, grace and <br />character of its membership; and <br />WHEREAS, GLORIA'S GIRLS has enjoyed the honor of <br />representing the United States in an international twirling <br />convention in Belgium and are now embarking on a trip to perform <br />at the World's Fair in New Orleans, Louisiana; and <br />WHEREAS, GLORIA'S GIRLS recently earned several State <br />Championship awards in Dunedin, Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, when not engaged in friendly competition, <br />these young ladies provide public service through the <br />entertainment of various organizations, including nursing and <br />retirement homes; and i <br />C.1 <br />
