Reverend -Charles understood what is planned for <br />the subject property is some kind of care unit, and he asked <br />if the Commission could assure them that their religious <br />freedom and the heritage of their families will be <br />preserved. <br />Commissioner Lyons stated he was certainly sympathetic <br />to that. He believed that entire country has religious <br />freedom, but understood that the Reverend's concern <br />apparently related to their services being noisy sometimes. <br />He did believe that people have a right to reasonable use of <br />their property, and he doubted the noise would be such that <br />it would cause much objection. <br />Reverend Charles explained that not only do they <br />sometimes hold bible meetings outside, but some of their <br />meetings are broadcast outside. The community as it exists <br />now has no objections, and he believed his congregation <br />would prefer multiple family to having to tangle with the <br />hospital. <br />Chairman Scurlock pointed out that there is always the <br />possibility of having some objections, even with just <br />residential development, and there is no way the Commission <br />can assure them that no one will ever complain about noise. <br />Commissioner Bird explained that the Commission's <br />option would be to allow either a medical facility on that <br />site or multiple family residential, and he felt with the <br />hospital type structure, we would be able to provide more <br />buffering, etc., than we could with residential. There is, <br />however, always a chance that someone will complain. <br />In further discussion, regarding noise, it was noted <br />that this property is right in the airport flight pattern; <br />the runway is not far away; and there are jets taking off <br />quite often. <br />Commissioner Lyons questioned the County Attorney as to <br />the church people's rights to continue their practices, and <br />52 <br />M <br />M <br />_I <br />
