I <br />OCT 10 19 4BOOK 58 FKE6 <br />y�v <br />RESOLUTION NO. 84- .L�1' <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ORCHID �2l EiUi6Z�2�' <br />SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTYP <br />FLORIDA, IN PREPARING AND ADOPTING A COUNTY -WIDE <br />FAIR SHARE TRANSPORTATION IMPACT FEE. <br />WHEREAS, the tremendous rate of growth along the <br />Treasure Coast in South Florida mandates that local governments <br />devise ways .to assure that.. the cost of new growth is distributed <br />fairly amongst the new Florida residents and those individuals who <br />have been Florida residents for many years; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County has hired a consulting team to study the Indian River <br />County thoroughfare plan, make recommendations as to the County's <br />future transportation needs, establish the cost of necessary <br />improvements to the transportation system required by future <br />growth, estimate the revenue that will be available to the County <br />for transportation purposes and to determine a fair means of <br />distributing the shortfall amongst the present and future <br />residents of Indian River County, and <br />WHEREAS, the funds collected from any impact fee imposed <br />should be used on transportation projects that bear a rational <br />nexus between the impact of the project upon which the fee is <br />assessed and the improvements that are to be made with the funds <br />collected. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />ORCHID , FLORIDA, THAT= <br />1. The City of ORCHID supports and urges <br />the County to undertake the study and prepare for consideration a <br />fair -share transportation impact fee, and <br />2. The City of . ORCT;In now indicates its <br />intent to participate with the County in the County -wide <br />imposition of a fair and reasonable fair -share, transportation <br />impact fee. The City will cooperate in the development and <br />implementation of such an impact fee and will work with the County <br />to develop a fee that can be imposed uniformly throughout the <br />countv includinq areas within city limits. <br />64 <br />
